Fund a Mission

As a mom of twelve, nine still at home, eleven of us surrounding our table nearly every evening, quite a bit of my effort goes toward creating healthy and hearty meals. Okay, let me rephrase that…I buy the groceries, eagerly watching for any sale I can find, try to balance enough protein while not going over budget while my older girls and I take turns making our evening meal. In an effort to encourage your womanhood, I sat for quite awhile thinking of how I could generate a magical way to feed a bustle of children on a shoestring budget. Truth is, this isn’t in my wheelhouse.

I mean, I’ve discovered a few tips and tricks for feeding a large family. Sticking to the basics have helped quite a bit…shop the sales, use coupons when available, and making dishes like soups & casseroles, adding staples like potatoes and rice to stretch the meal. But truly, feeding a family on a budget has always required the ingredient of Faith.

And in this season when food cost is high, the Lord gently reminds me that this purpose, this mission is worth funding.

Perhaps the greatest ministry available today begins with us and a healthy view of our womanhood. In a world that races through each day to achieve the highest productivity, the mission of a family meal falls flat. Ideologies of womanhood and the confusion surrounding our worth
