Womanhood
Womanhood is…complicated. What even is womanhood and why does it matter? Truth is, womanhood hasn’t always been easy for me.
Stepping into certain roles of being a woman, like learning to be a wife and a mother, felt like the squeezing of my heart much like a lemon making lemonade. Or better yet, a vice grip, with the threat of losing me. What was left of me after all the demands?
I’ve come to see that womanhood is so much more than duties and roles. It is the very essence of who you are. Who God designed you to be and the way in which you can uniquely worship Him in your everyday.
If I’m honest, my womanhood has been in desperate need of encouragement over the years. Not the mamsie pamsie words that fluff up for a moment but leave me crawling into bed discouraged by night, but rather, God’s word and principles that wrap my very feminine essence with a lasting purpose and peace that outlasts the middle of the night feeding of a newborn to the long lasting season of adult parenting. A truth and grace kind of encouragement.
Did you know that God had a plan in place for you to not only be encouraged, but mentored in your womanhood? To reach out and touch someone and see a real life example of just what womanhood is. Titus 2:3 speaks of God’s plan for such a woman, those that have experienced this kind of encouragement and are living in the fruit of womanhood, to train and mentor those up and coming.
This verse has been a comfort to me in a million ways over the years because it reminded me as a young woman that this wasn’t supposed to be easy or natural. I would need training and modeling to see Biblical womanhood. And God had a plan to encourage me. An older sister, if you will, to come alongside and encourage me in my everyday.
Womanhood is a life-long journey, a ‘journey up’ if you will. But God never intended for us to do it alone. His heart was for a ‘circle of sisters’, a tribe that would sojourn together for greatest impact. Not impact for us but for God’s glory alone! My prayer is that you will find deep, soul impactful encouragement here as we journey toward the Way of Womanhood according to God’s great plan.
